Davao

Jeden z naszych postulantów pochodzi z Davao. Dlatego też, w zeszłym tygodniu odwiedziliśmy jego rodzinę. Davao City oddalone jest ponad 300 km od Cagayan de Oro. Biorąc pod uwagę tutejsze drogi, schodzi na podróż niemal cały dzień. Mimo takiego dystansu i zmęczenia, podróż nasza była interesująca i ciekawa. Doświadczyliśmy wiele fascynujących rzeczy.

Davao jako misto rozległe jest na 224000 hektarach i jest domem dla ponad 2 mln ludzi. To trzecie co do wielkości miasto w kraju. Mieszkańcy miasta często dumnie powtarzają, że jest to ‘największe miasto na świecie’ pod względem zajmowanego terenu.

Samo położenie miasta, na południowym wybrzeżu wyspy Mindanao, czyni je komercyjnym, przemysłowym i strategicznym centrum. Jest to rownież bardzo atrakcyjne miejsce dla turystow, z wieloma miejscami do zwiedzania.

Durian i orzeł to symbole Davao

W granicach mista znajduje się największe wyniesienie (szczyt) w kraju: Mount Apo. A perełką turystyczną są parki: Eden Park, Crocodiles Park, Pearl Farm, Eagles Sanctuary, Peoples Park, Magsaysay Park z wieloma rodzajami durianu (słynny owoc Davao – symbol miasta) oraz wyspa Samal, z wieloma plażami i terenami rekreacyjnymi.

One of our postulants comes from Davao. That is why we traveled there to visit his family last week. It was very interesting and attractive trip. Davao City (Cebuano: Dabaw) is located in the southeastern part of Mindanao, around 300 km away from Cagayan de Oro. It takes almost a day to travel so far. We had many adventures and we experienced fascinating things on the way.

Davao itself is a big city limits sprawl over 224,000 hectares. The habitants proudly called it as the ‘biggest city in the world.’ Davao is home to over two million people. This makes it as a third most significant metropolitan area in the country. Its great location on the southern coast of Mindanao makes it as the main trade, commerce, and industry hub of the country.

Davao is home to Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the country and many other attractions. In contradictions to many cities in the Philippines it got many parks and natural spots. One of the most interesting are: Eden Park, Crocodiles Park, Pearl Farm, Eagles Sanctuary, Peoples Park, Magsaysay Park with variety of durian (famous fruit of Davao – symbol of the city) and Samal Island with many beaches and recreation areas.
