Camotes Islands

To właściwe miejsce na bycie „blisko z naturą”: ptaki, zwierzęta, ogrody i rożnorodna roślinność.

Wyspy Camotes to mały archipelag, na który składają się cztery wyspy: Pacijan (San Francisco town), Poro (Poro and Tudela towns), Ponson (Pilar town) and Tulang.

Nazwa “camotes” znaczy „słodkie ziemniaki” w języku cebuano. Jedna z legend mówi o pochodzeniu tej ciekawej nazwy. Było to w czasach, gdy przyjechali tu pierwsi Hiszpanie. Przybysze pytali się miejscowych ludzi, pracujących na roli, o nazwę tej wyspy. Rolnicy zrozumieli, że przybysze pytają się o ziemniaki, które oni zbierali z pola i wkładali do koszyka. Odpowiedzieli więc, że to „camotes.” Dlatego też, te wyspy zostały nazwane Camotes Islands (czyli wyspy ziemniaczane).

This year the SCJ take their vacation in Camotes. It is an excellent place for vacation and relax. Lying 62 km northeast of Cebu City in central Philippines Camotes is like a small piece of paradise. Pristine crystal clear water, sugary white sand, clean surroundings, the scent of a newly cut grass early in the morning and the spectacular view of the sunset. Getting close to nature at its best is one of the few things you can experience when you visit this place.

Camotes in fact is a small archipelago with 4 beautiful islands: Pacijan (San Francisco town), Poro (Poro and Tudela towns), Ponson (Pilar town) and Tulang (an island barangay of San Francisco).

The name “camotes” means “sweet potatoes” in Cebuano. One popular story says that centuries ago when the Spaniards first arrived here, they encountered some native islanders farming whom they asked about the island's name. The natives thought they were asking them what they were putting in their baskets. They replied, “camote.” Thereafter the islands were called the Camotes Islands.

It is one of the places that you shouldn’t miss when you visit the Philippines.
