Lampiony do nieba / Lanterns to Heaven

Wczoraj obchodziliśmy drugą rocznicę tajfunu Sendong (Washi), który nocą, z 16 na 17go grudnia 2011, nawiedził Cagayan de Oro City. Tajfun i powódź nim spowodowana, zrobiła ogromne spustoszenie w mieście. Setki ludzi zostało zaskoczonych powodzią i utoneło złapanych w pułapce własnego domu w ciemnościach tamtej nocy. Inni zostali porwani przez ogromną falę rzeczną i zginęli w morzu. Rzeka zabrała domy, kaplice, samochody, słupy elektryczne i zniszczyła drogi w mieście. Wiele rodzin do dziś opłakuje najbliższych, a tysiące zostało bez dachu nad głową i straciło całe swoje mienie. Była to wielka tragedia i cieżko opisać wszystkie skutki jake ona pozostawiła.

Mówiac o konkretnych stratach w liczbach, trzeba podkreślić, że tajfun Sendong spowodował śmierć ponad 1200 ludzi. Straty materialne (infrastruktury, budynków i w rolnictwie) szacowane są w granicach 1 biliona pesos. Prawie 9000 rodzin zostało bezdomnymi. 

Wczoraj wieczorem, dokładnie w drugą rocznicę tego tragicznego wydarzenia, odbyło się wiele uroczystości w naszym mieście Cagayan. Również i w Wiosce Matki Bożego Miłosierdzia miała miejsce skromna, ale sympatyczna celebracja tego ważnego wydarzenia. Tuż po maszy roratniej, zostało wysłanych do nieba 12 lampionów. To po to, aby upamiętnić ponad 1200  osób, które zginęły w czasie tamtych tragicznych dni. Ten gest solidarności odbył się w ciszy. Wznoszące się lampiny symbolizowały modlitwę, która powoli, ale stale i zawsze w górę leci do nieba. Na tej miłej uroczystości obecni byli prezydenci wioski i kaplicy, a także wielu gości z miasta.

Wioska Matki Bożej Miłosierdzia - bierzące uaktualnienie:

Obecnie 320 rodzin mieszka już w swoich osobnych domach (30 m²). We wiosce wykopana jest studnia głębionowa. Ludzie mają wystarczająco wody, ale woda nie jest jeszcze doprowadzona do każdego domu. Muszą więc czerpać wodę na zewnatrz, ze stacji wodnych w centrum. Jest tam też prąd i mini kanalizacja, tzn. systemy odprawadzające wodę i ścieki. Elektryczność jest już we wiosce, na ulicach i wspólnych miejscach, ale jeszcze nie w domach. Firma budowlana obiecała podłączyć prąd do domów w ciągu kilku tygodni. W centrum wioski znajduje się dom wielofunkcyjny. To duża zadaszona wiata, która może pomieścić kilkaset osób. Tam odprawiane są msze w niedziele, spotkania robocze i towarzyskie.

Z vice prezydentem wioski, Loloy Valde i Rocell, jednym z postulantów.

A co do najbliższej przyszłości: będzie tam jeszcze wybudowanych 280 dodatkowych domów, tak aby liczba wszystkich rodzin mieszkających w wiosce dobiła, do planowanej od poczatku, licyby 600. Jest już plan na kaplicę, przedszkole, plac zabaw i boiska, oraz market. To wszystko, oczywiście, będzie zależało od naszych sponsorów i dobroczyńców. Jak na razie, wioska rozwija się wedlug planów i mamy nadzieję, że w końcem przyszłego roku, 2014, bedzie całkowicie ukończona. Wielkie dzięki dla wszystkich, którzy w jakikolwiek sposób przyczynili się do powstania i rozwoju tego dzieła.

Yesterday was the second anniversary of typhoon Sendong (international code name Washi). The dawn of December 17, 2011 marks the unforgettable tragedy in Cagayan de Oro City. Typhoon and strong flash flood cussed terrible disaster in the city. Hundreds were swelled by the river or died in the flood in their own houses caught by surprised during the darkness of night. Many houses, chapels, cars and electrical posts were completely destroyed and taken by the flood to the sea. Thousands of people became homeless and were affected because of hunger lowliness and worries. Most of the families in the city lost as least one member in this tragedy. It was terrible tragedy. 

We know today that more than 1,200 people perished in the flood. Damage to property, infrastructure and agriculture was estimated at almost Php 1 Billion. Almost 9,000 families were left homeless.

Yesterday night there were celebrations throughout the city to commemorate this tragedy and to remember those who died. Also in the Village of the Mother of Divine Mercy, home of 320 families, survivors of Sendong, there was a simple but meaningful gathering and prayer. After a mass, during which all members of the village were present, we sent 12 lanterns to the sky. It was very symbolic guest to remember more than 12 hundreds those who died. In silence we sent and watched the lights that straight flied up to the sky like our prayer to heaven.

I this meaningful celebration took part the newly elected president in the Village, president of the chapel and many guests from the city.

Mother of Divine Mercy Village present update:

At this moment there are 320 families living in the houses (30 m square each) in the Village. There is a deep well and the families have easy access to the water, but the water is not provided to every house. They have to fetch the water outside situated in a few places in the Village. There is installed electricity and drainage system in the entire area of the village. There is no yet electricity in every house but it will be provided within a few weeks. In the centre of the Village there is a large kiosk, covered area, which is used for different activities and meetings. Every Sunday there is a mass celebrated there.

The future plan for the Village includes 280 additional houses. It would enlarge the Village to become a home for 600 families. It is the original plan. Beside the houses there is a plan to build a chapel, kindergarten, sport playground and a market. All of these will depended on generosity of our sponsors and benefactors. We are very happy with the development of the project of the Mother of Divine Mercy Village and its fast growth.
