swietowalismy dzien inauguracji Filipin jako Regionu.
Swieto
to mialo wiec bardzo uroczysty charakter. Najwazniejszym momentem tego dnia byla
Eucharystia sprawowana przez wielu ksiezy pracujacych tutaj na Filipinach, jak i
z zagranicy. (Polska prowincje reprezentowal ks. Michal Ciemiega, sekretarz
misji zagranicznych). W zastepstwie Ojca Generala Mszy swietej przewodniczyl
ks. Claudio Dalla Zuana, radny generalny.
Podczas
Mszy swietaj, po ewangeli, byl moment wyznania wiary i tym samamym, erygowania
nowej administracji. Pierwszym przelozonym Regionu zostal wybrany Polak, ks.
Franciszek Pupkowski. Wraz ze swoja rada, bedzie on zarzadzal Regionem przez
nastepne trzy lata.

postulantow i sercanska mlodziez. Dlatego wiec, podczas dziekczynienia, po Komuni
sw., szesciu nowych kandydatow zostalo oficialnie zaakceptowanych do Postulatu,
a dwanascie mlodych dziewczat i chlopcow zadedykowalo swoje zycie Sercu Jezusa
oraz wyrazilo chec iscia droga charyzmatu O. Dehona.
Podczas
Mszy swietaj pamietalismy o modlitwie w intencji ks. Jerry-ego Sheehy,
sercanina, ktory zmarl w tych dniach w Angli. Byl on nie tylko przyjacielem i
dobroczynca naszego Regionu, ale tez jednym z nas, misjonarzem, ktory pracowal
tutaj przez wiele lat. Ks. Jerry przyjechal na Filipiny w pierwszej grupie
misjonarzy i kladl podwaliny pod obecny Region.
Ten
historyczny dla nas dzien zakonczyla uroczysta kolacja i braterskie spotkanie.
Region
filipinski posiada 7 domow zakonnych, w tym 3 domy formacyjne i 5 parafii. Jako
sercanie prowadzimy tu kilka dziel spolecznych (Kasanag i Higaonon) oraz mamy
mlodziez i swieckich Dehonianskich, ktorzy blisko sa zwiazani z nasza
dzialalnoscia i misjami. Obecnie w Regionie pracuje 20 misjonarzy z 7 roznych
krajow. Mamy juz 7 miejscowych ksiezy, 2 diakonow i 25 mlodych zakonnikow
jeszcze na slubach czasowych.
W
Cagayan de Oro, domu formacyjnym, gdzie studiuje sie filozofie, mieszka 57
studentow. Ci kandydaci przygotowuja sie do nowicjatu i zycia zakonnego na
trzech stopnich formacji: rok orientacyjny, aspirantura i postulat. W Manili
zas znajduje sie Theologia z 20 studentami. Duza liczba miejscowych kandydatow
napawa nas nadzieja i optimizmem na szybki rozwoj tej sercanskiej misji w Azji.
March 14 is the anniversary of
birth of Fr Dehon, the founder of our Congregation. This year March 14 has
another special meaning for the SCJs working in the Philippines. It is the date
of the Inauguration of the Philippine Region. It was a meaningful celebration
for all of us here in the Philippines as well as for the whole Congregation.
At the center of this
celebration was a Eucharist celebrated by many priests from the Philippines and
abroad. The main celebrant, Fr Claudio Dalla Zuana, Vicar General, who came as
the delegate of Fr General, officially inaugurated the Region and nominated the
new Regional Administration.
During the mass, after the gospel,
Fr Francis Pupkowski, the new Regional Superior, made his profession of faith
and together with his Council received the official nomination for the Regional
Administration. They will govern the Region for the next three years.
March 14 is traditionally marked
as a day of acceptance of new postulants to the formation program as well as a
day of accepting new Dehonian youth. Therefore, after the Holy Communion, 6
candidates were accepted to Postulancy and 12 young men and women dedicated
their lives to the Sacred Heart. They will study and follow the charism and way
of life of Fr Dehon.
During the Mass we remember in
our prayers Fr Jerry Sheehy, Dehonian priest and missionary, who died a few
days ago in Scotland. He was in the first group of the missionaries that
arrived in the Philippines 23 years ago to start the SCJ mission here. He
worked in the Philippines for several years, and then, began a new SCJ mission
in Vietnam.
This meaningful celebration
ended with a dinner and a joyful gathering of all the priests, brothers and
friends.
There are 20 missionaries working
in the Philippines Region from 7 different countries. Among them there are
already 7 young local priests, 2 deacons and 25 young religious in temporary
vows. The Region includes 7 communities, 3 formation houses and 5 parishes. There
are also a few social projects, many students on scholarship, lay and young
Dehonians. They take active part in the work, projects and SCJ missions here.
Sacred Heart Formation House in
Cagayan de Oro is the center for beginners: candidates who apply to the
Congregation. There are 3 stages of
initial formation: pre-college, aspirancy and postulancy. There are all
together 57 students in this house. In Manila is the Scholasticate with 20
students of theology in temporary vows. Growing number of our students and
candidates gives us hope the missions in Asia will go on.
