Tajfun / Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) - a week after / tydzień później



Już minął tydzień od dnia, gdy super tajfun Yolanda uderzył i przeszedł przez Filipiny. To był najmocniejszy tajfun w tym roku i jeden z największych w histori. Dziś wiemy już więcej o jego skutkach i ofiarach, ale jeszcze nie wszystko. Wiele miejscowości i wiosek nie ma jeszcze kontaktu ze światem, prądu, wody, telefonu, środków medycznych i innych podstawowych rzeczy do życia. Ludzie nie mają domów. Wielu wolontariuszy pomaga oczyszczać zdewastowane miasta i grzebać ciała zmarłych. Nikt jeszcze nie potrafi oszacunkować liczby zabitych i poszkodowanych ofiar. Ciągle na to za wcześniej. Nie ma na to jeszcze danych. Prezydent Filipin zaprzeczył jakoby 10.000 zginęło. Poprosił rownież o dalszą pomoc dla ofiar. Poniżej podaję parę danych, potwierdzonych, dotyczących liczby zabitych i szkód wyrządzonych przez tajfun. 





It is already a week since the typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines. It was a strongest typhoon this year and one of the strongest in the history of the earth. Now, one week after, we know more about its consequences than last week but not yet all. There are still many places without communication, electricity, water, telephone services, medical aids and basic human assets. Local and voluntary workers are cleaning up the devastated areas and burying the dead bodies. No one can yet properly estimate the number of casualties. The president of the Philippines denied that 10,000 died. At the same time he asked for more voluntarily people to help and for any kind of needs. Below are the roughly estimated and confirm data regarding the victims and damage after the typhoon



Casualties:

The number of people in the Philippines confirmed dead stands at 3,621, local officials say.

But according to the UN the number of dead raised at 4,460.

Beside it, 3,853 injured and hundreds are still missing. Thousands are homeless.



Number of affected areas:

9,032 barangays in 43 provinces, 534 municipalities and 55 cities. The most affected city, Tacloban, reported damage of buildings and infrastructure up to 80% in some areas.



Evacuation centers:

A total of 69,831 families (338,149 persons) are being served inside 993 evacuation centers.



Damaged houses:

The number of damaged houses increased to 243,595 houses (131,106 totally I 112,489 partially) in the affected provinces.



Cost of Agricultural Damage:

A total of 71,733 hectares of agricultural land planted with rice (67,095 has), corn (2,384 has) and high value crops (2,254 has) were affected in Regions IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, and CARAGA (42,137 has with no chance of recovery.



How many help?

A total of 17,890 personnel, 844 vehicles, 44 sea craft, 31 aircraft, and other assets / equipment from National and Local Agencies, Responders and Volunteer Organizations were prepositioned and deployed to strategic areas to facilitate response operations.



State of Calamity:

Dumangas, Iloilo, Janiuay, Iloilo, and the Province of Antique (Res. No. 085-2013) were declared under a state of calamity.



Presidential Proclamation No.682 dated November 11, 2013, Declaring A State of National Calamity in Samar provinces, Leyte, Cebu, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Palawan.



These figures are still expected to rise, perhaps significantly, when information is collected from other areas of the disaster zone where there is not yet restore a proper communication.
